Introduction
On 27 March 2026, Sky Quest Lab was invited by the Ministry of Education (Singapore) Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL) and the Tan Kah Kee Foundation to conduct an online foundational debate workshop for 29 secondary schools participating in the inaugural National Secondary School Chinese Debate Competition.
This competition is jointly organised by CPCLL and the Tan Kah Kee Foundation, with the aim of enhancing students’ Chinese debate skills, critical thinking abilities, as well as analytical and argumentative competencies, while nurturing more students who are confident in using the Chinese language.
The 2.5-hour workshop was conducted by Sky Quest Lab's founder, Ms Wu. To ensure that even students new to debating could benefit, she carefully designed the session around five key topics:
-
What is debate
-
How to explore and prepare for a motion and conduct research
-
Roles and responsibilities of speakers 1 to 4
-
Techniques for different debate segments
-
Common challenges faced by beginners
Sky Quest Lab is honoured to have contributed to the preparatory training for this national-level competition, helping to build a strong foundation in debating for secondary school students in Singapore. Guided by our mission, we strive to inspire students to develop a love for the Chinese language through debate and to understand the world through critical thinking.
We wish all participating teams the very best and every success in showcasing their skills and excellence.
